Among her responsibilities at the Nebraska Arts Council, Anne Alston manages Arts Learning Project Grants and the Artists in Schools/Communities Grants. She also manages the AiS/C roster of teaching artists and coordinates the Poetry Out Loud program for the state of Nebraska. She currently serves on the education committee of Nebraskans for the Arts, the community outreach advisory group for Joslyn Art Museum and the education advisory group for the Omaha Community Playhouse. She has been involved in special education-related initiatives with a number of organizations in Nebraska, and is currently involved with a distance learning arts education initiative led by the Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council. Anne has served on grant review panels for the Iowa Arts Council, the Nebraska Volunteer Services Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. Prior to joining the Nebraska Arts Council staff, she worked in the education department at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. Before that she headed the community outreach and education programs at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, also in Omaha. She holds a B.F.A in painting and art history from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.
