The Nebraska Arts Council partners with the Nebraska Governor’s Residence each year to display the artwork of Nebraska artists on the walls of the building’s main conference room. This unique space allows civic leaders, citizens, school children and other visitors the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the diversity of statewide artistic talent.

Artwork by Cody Wheelock will be on display in the residence October 21 through December 18, with public hours on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. To request an appointment (recommended for groups of 10 or more), contact Residence Director Leisa Ausdemore at (402) 471-3466.

About the artist: Cody Wheelock was born and raised in small-town Nebraska and discovered a love of drawing at an early age. While constantly interested in art, it wasn’t until college that Cody discovered the artwork of the Great Masters and became interested in traditional drawing and painting methods. Cody graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2010 and completed his Masters Degree from Boston University in 2013.

He and his family currently reside in Omaha, Nebraska, where he is a full-time art instructor at a college prep academy. Cody also teaches part-time at Joslyn Art Museum, Gallery 92 West and the 402 Arts Collective. His focus is in drawing and painting within the traditional genres of still life, landscape and the figure. More information can be found on his website:
