The Nebraska Arts Council partners with the Nebraska Governor’s Residence each year to display the artwork of Nebraska artists on the walls of the building’s main conference room. This unique space allows civic leaders, citizens, school children and other visitors the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the diversity of statewide artistic talent.

Artwork by Paula Wallace will be on display in the residence December 23 through February 19, with public hours on Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. To request an appointment (recommended for groups of 10 or more), contact Residence Director Leisa Ausdemore at (402) 471-3466.

About the artist: Paula Wallace is a working artist maintaining a studio at the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Her range of styles may be representational to whimsical with lush color and an evocative narrative quality. Art is the language of her work; to delight in beauty and to share the human experience are aspects of that language.

Wallace works primarily in oil, yet her other loves are the black and white of singular monotypes and the character-driven narratives of illustration. Her characters are drawn from life and imagination. The artist employs the techniques of printmaking in her more painterly work, and is painterly in her whimsy.

Wallace is a teaching artist with WhyArts, which uses the arts in service to others. Wallace’s book, Choose Your Days, will be published by Cinco Puntos Press in 2016. More about the artist:
