About the Exhibition: Sydney Chase’s newest body of work, The Act of Being Present, is based on the idea that people fill every second of every day with one thing or another. Life is a blur of events, emotions and busywork. People fill their lives and moments with things that have to get done or completed, and if people aren't doing something they are thinking about the next thing that is going to happen.
The Act of Being Present is centered around taking those moments that can be easily forgotten and treasuring them instead; taking them and hiding them in the deepest catacombs of one's soul. Each image in this collection is a moment in time that Sydney holds in high regard. These moments may seem simple and average but should not be forgotten.
About the Artist: Sydney Chase a visual artist located in Omaha, Nebraska, where she has lived for three years. Prior to living in Omaha, she studied painting at the Kansas City Art Institute.
