What do you mean by matching funds, and how do I find them?

An organization must project enough cash income to match the full amount of your NAC grant request.  Here are some guidelines:

  1. Sources of matching cash funds can be from a variety of sources including anticipated ticket sales, admission or workshops fees, donations from individuals or corporations, or grants from foundations or government agencies.
  2. Funds from within your organization’s budget, referred to as applicant cash, can also be used as matching cash funds.
  3. In-kind (sometimes referred to as “soft” money) or donated goods and services do not qualify as cash match.
  4. Funds from another NAC grant (such as Basic Support Grant funds) or from Mid-America Arts Alliance grants do not qualify.

If you have a question about the whether or not your income qualifies as cash match, contact us prior to submitting your application.
