Kenny Janak Orchestra
The Kenny Janák Orchestra is a 7-piece ensemble specializing in Czech dechovka and German Blasmusik, using brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments to play traditional and modern folk and brass music. Our performances feature lively polkas, waltzes, and other folk music that also include vocals in Czech and English. The ongoing mission of the band is to preserve the European brass music tradition here in the US by playing carefully crafted arrangements with experienced professional musicians who all share a love for this music. This music is suitable for a concert setting although often people will want to dance to the energetic beat!
Along with musical performances, KJO can provide expert insight into the history of the music and its role in society both in Europe and the US. Because the band includes several experienced music educators, our musicians can provide interesting information about the specific instruments and their role in the ensemble.

Availability: There are no restrictions at this time. Trips longer than 4 hours may require overnight lodging.
