Mike Catron
Participants in Mike Catron’s residency will learn how to safely communicate, perform, and react to a variety of stage combat techniques. Sessions will focus on particular styles of performance: common acts of stage violence like slaps, shoves, falls, and grabs, or roughneck fighting.
Each session will include elements of individual, space, and scene partner safety and connect the performance of stage violence with larger narrative arcs. Participants will use information gained in the instructional portion of the residency to design, block, and perform short narrative scenes. Sessions end with notes and feedback on performance and tips for future performances and scene design. Mike can also develop workshops based on particular needs for specific productions.
Mike is also a certified teacher of English and Assistant Theatre Director at Millard West High School. He is a member of the Teaching Artist Alliance and has extensive experience in the field of education.
