River Point Creative District

The River Point Creative District (RPCD) in historic downtown Norfolk, Nebraska is primed for expanding its programming and opportunities for artists and non-artists alike. RPCD plans to develop amenities specifically geared toward attracting and retaining creative young adults between the ages of 20 and 29. RPCD will offer exciting opportunities for artistic expression, sufficient means to make a living, and community involvement not only to retain its population of young creatives, but also to ensure that such individuals have the desire and resources to use their talents for community-wide attraction.

The River Point Creative Districts foundation is laid upon long-standing community organizations and a vision rooted in diversity, economic development, and ingenuity. Downtown Norfolk has gone through a renaissance over the last 5 years and the RPCD will only continue to enhance the community.

Increased dining choices, including outdoor dining and late-night hours, plus new entertainment options have created a district that visitors and residents can enjoy. Live music has returned to be a weekly feature, bolstered by the Downtown Summer Concert Series in River Point Square. The square is a recently renovated city park that serves as a multipurpose shared outdoor space that is home to the Norfolk Farmers Market, featuring not only homegrown goods, but makers also selling their creations. The Norfolk Area Sculpture Walk and Alleyway Mural Project introduces contemporary public art and sculptures to our community’s residents and visitors through an annually revolving public sculpture display. Also, inside the RPCD is the Norfolk Arts Center which brings people and arts together through visual arts, performing arts, arts education and events.
