Gordon Creative District, located on Scenic-By-Ways-designated Highway 20 and Highway 27, celebrates its Old West culture, nestled in the northern Panhandle of Nebraska. The district encompasses two parks and the fairgrounds as well as its attractive Main Street, museums, and memorial park.
The Sheridan County Fair and Rodeo, with an-141-year history in Gordon, includes a parade down Main Street, Old Time Cowboy breakfast and a Buyer Bonanza, with everything from cakes to some of the best cattle in the country are sold. After perusing main street, you can check out the Willow Tree Quilting Guild with their extraordinary show of talent on display. For all of those with a green thumb, Plants out of the Pots highlights unusual plants and their containers.
And while you are visiting Gordon, you can check out the Main Street businesses, which feature numerous creative businesses for both shoppers and lookers alike to explore. One of the downtown businesses that brings pride to the area is the Gordon Community Theater. The venue offers not only movies, but other performance such as poetry slams, Poetry Out Loud, Moving Movie Magic with Munchies, educational meetings, and the new talent show.
Gordon is also home to three museums: The Tri-State Old Time Memorial Cowboy Museum, the Scamahorn Museum and the new Doc Middleton’s Ice Cream Saloon Museum on Highway 20.
