Arts Accessibility Grants

The Arts Accessibility Grant has two tracks:
EVENT SERVICES AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations incorporated in Nebraska that are federally tax-exempt, and public agencies and subdivisions of governmental agencies. Basic Support Grant (BSG) and Annual Series and Events (ASE) grantees are eligible to apply.

Arts Accessibility Grant - Event Services

The Arts Accessibility Grant-Event Services program provides non-matching reimbursement grants to Nebraska nonprofit organizations to defray costs involved in opening performances to all individuals regardless of accessibility barriers.

What expenses are eligible?

Services:

  • Fees for licensed American Sign Language Interpreter(s)
  • Fees for licensed Audio Description Services
  • Fees for Sensory Guide Services
  • Fees for contracted transportation expenses (bus, minivan, Uber, parking, etc.)

Materials:

  • Cost of printing Braille programs, sensory guides, and/or large print guides
  • Cost of Sensory Kits

Grant Amounts: Applicants can request a maximum award of $2,500 per fiscal year (July 1-June 30). $250 per event or $2,500 for a series of 10 or more events.

Deadline: At least four weeks prior to the event or purchase of materials.

Arts Accessibility Grant - Improvement Projects

The Arts Accessibility Grant-Improvement Projects is an invitational grant program designed to provide non-matching funds to improve access to art organization’s existing programs or facility for patrons with disabilities.

What expenses are eligible?

  • Purchase and staff training of accessibility equipment
  • Improvements to existing facilities or infrastructure meant to enhance access
  • Professional development for staff and artists on how to improve the accessibility of your organization’s existing programs

Grant Amounts: Nonmatching, up to $5,000

How to Apply: To be eligible to apply, organizations must first email a Letter of Intent (LOI) to linda.hilliar@nebraska.gov.

Deadline: LOIs must be received at least 12 weeks before the proposed project start date, and must include the following:

  • Describe the proposed project and how it will address your organization’s accessibility goals. Reference your 504 Access plan.
  • Include a budget estimate describing the expenses for your project.
