Overview:
Hastings College is seeking proposals from artists to design and create an artistic entryway to serve as a welcoming entrance to our rain garden. This area is located on our campus between the Morrison-Reeves Science Center and the parking lot behind the building, and features native plants, a walking path, artistic sculptures and benches. This project aims to integrate artistic expression with the natural environment, enhancing the visitor experience.

Project Description:
See appendix for photo references of space. The selected artist will design and construct an entrance or archway that:
-Serves as a visually striking and functional entrance to the rain garden
-Uses durable, weather-resistant materials suitable for a long-term outdoor installation
-Stands structurally sound while maintaining artistic integrity
-Complements the surrounding landscape and existing design elements of the garden

Eligibility:
This RFQ is open to professional artists or artist teams with experience in outdoor installations.

Budget:
The project budget will be determined based on available funding and the scope of the selected design, not to exceed $20,000.

Expression of Interest Requirements:
-Interested artists should submit the following materials:
-Statement of interest outlining artistic vision and approach to the project
-Biography and CV highlighting relevant experience
-Portfolio of past work, including at least three examples of outdoor installations

Selection Criteria:
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Artistic quality and originality
Feasibility and durability of design
Demonstrated experience with similar projects of size and scope
Submission Deadline:

All materials must be submitted by April 30, 2025 to Claire Bostelman at claire.bostelman@hastings.edu.

Timeline:
-Expression of Interest deadline: April 30, 2025
-Finalists will be contacted for final round: May 10, 2025
-Finalist(s) deadline for submission: June 20, 2025
-Selection announcement: July 1, 2025
-Project completion deadline: TBD
