AFter an introduction to “How THIS book was Made,” Glover’s Writers Workshops ask students to identify and apply the six traits of writing to the writing process. While using story mapping and free writing students conceptualize an idea for a story and write, revise, write, revise, workshop in pairs and in groups before sharing their work in small and large groups. Workshops specifically offer a creative outlet for working on character development, showing vs. telling, and descriptive word choice.
