Thad Beach is a musician and songwriter who plays guitar, ukulele, mandolin, harmonica, and some homemade musical creations. He has been doing Artist in the Schools Residencies since 1988 and has been on Teaching Artist Rosters for State Arts Councils in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as many local and regional arts organizations.

Thad presents a variety of residency programs. His favorite is his songwriting residency where students explore hands-on music making, creative writing, local history, heritage and culture. It’s a highly participatory, interdisciplinary, collaborative project! Students become better writers by developing their rhyming, alliteration, descriptive language and communication skills. Participants explore topics of local interest, choose a theme and turn our research into a song. Everyone proudly shares their process and project with the school and community at the end of the week.

Thad would love to come to your school to learn about your community and share his love of music and the creative process with your teachers and students!
