Margaret Berry
Margaret Berry loves to share the magic of wax – its smell, its feel and its quick effects when painting and making collages. She is reviving encaustic art, the ancient process used by the Egyptians for mummy portraits. Encaustic paint is made from beeswax, tree resin and pigment and applied molten to wood panels for a distinctive look. Techniques include layering, incising, scraping and embedding collage materials. Residency participants will learn about innovative encaustic artists while experimenting with these techniques!
