Norris M. Chee
Norris Chee focuses on Native American art of the Southwest, primarily the Navajo culture. Colors, symbols, and techniques used by Native Americans are explained in the residency. Through art activities, participants are helped to understand the meaning of traditional images and how these images influence creativity. Primary colors are also explored for it is through primary colors that all color shades are created. During this residency the students design and created T-shirts using airbrush and stencils with animal and Native American themes. For the high school or more advanced students the residency has been working on paintings. The paintings are working with realism with the focus on animal portraits.
Norris resided in Nebraska for many years, and returns often. He welcomes artist residency opportunities in Nebraska.
