Oshkosh Creative District 77

Oshkosh is a small rural town in the southeastern part of the Nebraska Panhandle nestled between the beautiful Sandhills and the North Platte River. Thirty-three miles from I-80, Oshkosh is surrounded by history, interesting geography, and an abundance of art and artisans.

The entrance to the Creative District is located on US Highway 26, part of the Western Trails Historic and Scenic Byway. The highway parallels the North Platte River and the original paths of the Oregon, California, and Mormon Pioneer Trails and the Great Western Cattle Trail.

Nineteen murals are located in the district, with an additional 24 throughout Oshkosh and Garden County. The Creative District is also home to twelve metal sculptures and three mosaics. Thirty-six Barn Quilts enliven the district, many highlighting an aspect of a local business or area wildlife. These, and more than 75 additional barn quilts throughout the community and county, are on the National Barn Quilt Trail. Garden County is one of 17 Nebraska counties on the tour and is the only location west of Dawson County.

Be sure to check out the Silver Hill and Rock School Museums, Historical Oshkosh Water Tower, Ash Hollow State Historical Park, Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge, charming boutiques, floral shop, local restaurants, coffee shop, art galleries, local events, and so much more!
